Bio & Info
Singer-songwriter Jennafer Lynsey would probably be the first person to tell you that she has had a few “pinch me” moments in the past 365 days… and well, who would blame her? With the last year, the Buffalo, NY native moved to Nashville, worked with some amazing musicians, wrote outstanding songs, signed to a music label, picked a first single to introduce her music to the world, and made a great video to go with it. Who says dreams don’t come true? “This whole experience has been incredible so far. I am so lucky to be working with such talented people, I can’t believe this is my life.”
Growing up in upstate New York, Lynsey caught the music bug in her tweens. She was in chorus and show choir in school, but it was performing in a fifth grade talent show that made her know that singing was what she was meant to do. A falling out with a best friend inspired her to start songwriting in an effort to express her feelings, and from there she never looked back. “I had a couple of bands that played with me when I was performing outside of school, but they never ended up really going anywhere, and we would inevitably break up. I realized I really needed to rely on myself if I wanted to continue.”
Jennafer’s first single, “Face to Face” is a no-holds-barred, and very relatable, song about what love feels like when you’re hundreds of miles away. “It’s all about the struggle of wanting to be with someone but not being able to,” says Jennafer, “When I wrote the song, this guy was always on my mind and in my memories, but I couldn’t be with him because we were miles away.” The songwriting on this track came easily to Jennafer, since she was so passionate about the topic. “The first line that came about was, “The way your eyes caught onto mine,” and I went straight home, picked up my guitar and just wrote all the way from the first verse to chorus.”
She also couldn’t have imagined she’d find herself working on the track with superstar producer Matt Squire (Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato, One Direction, Selena Gomez, and many more). “Matt really listened to what I wanted, let me toss around ideas and asked for my input on the arrangement. He did all the work that makes ‘Face to Face’ sound so amazing. It was so cool to watch him do his thing!”
An energetic pop track with an unforgettable melody, “Face to Face” is lifted by Jennafer’s incredible vocals. Paired with the can’t-get-it-out-of-your-head track is a terrific music video directed by Bill Fishman, who has helmed videos for Counting Crows, Good Charlotte, Train and Nickelback, among others. She can’t wait to take her music on the road and play to her growing fan base. “Performing is my all time favorite thing to do in this entire world. It just completely lights me up. Feeling the crowd, that vibe is just indescribable. I always want people to leave feeling better than when they came in.” If “Face to Face” is any indication, Jennafer Lynsey has nothing to worry about.
