Jhené Aiko has released a new uplifting song called “Calm & Patient.” The track is characterized by its positive affirmations and smooth sound, which features the use of sound bowls played by Aiko, as well as a bass, flute, and saxophone played by Robert “Bubby” Lewis and David Otis. Aiko sings about being happy in any situation and remaining calm and patient throughout the ups and downs of life.
The song was teased by Aiko on Instagram, where she paid tribute to her early days of releasing music on Tumblr. It was released without a formal announcement, with Aiko’s manager Taz taking to Instagram Stories to suggest that a new era of music from the artist was on the horizon.
Aiko’s previous album, Chilombo, was released in March 2020 and included collaborations with Ty Dolla $ign, H.E.R., Miguel, Future, and Big Sean. The album received critical acclaim and earned Aiko three Grammy nominations, including Album of the Year. A deluxe version of the album was also released later that year.
In January 2021, Chilombo was certified platinum by the RIAA, indicating that it had sold over one million equivalent units. Aiko’s fans are likely eagerly anticipating the arrival of her next project.
