Mahalia has released a new song called “Terms and Conditions” that makes it clear what she expects from a future love interest. Produced by The Elements and co-written by RAYE, the song is characterized by direct lyrics that leave no room for confusion. Mahalia sings about the importance of setting boundaries and refusing to compromise on certain things in a relationship.
The song’s catchy chorus urges the listener to consider Mahalia’s terms and conditions if they want to pursue a relationship with her. Mahalia describes the song as a “love letter to myself while being a warning to others,” and it is the first taste of her upcoming second album, set to release in the summer via Warner Music UK.
“Terms and Conditions” follows Mahalia’s 2022 single “Bag of You” and her EP Letter to Ur Ex, which was released earlier in the spring. The EP included popular songs like “In the Club” and “Whatever Simon Says” and showcased Mahalia’s talent for reflecting on past experiences and their impact on personal growth.
Mahalia’s upcoming album will be the follow-up to her 2019 debut, Love and Compromise, which featured collaborations with Ella Mai, Lucky Daye, Hamzaa, Terrace Martin, and Burna Boy. The album’s lead single, “What You Did,” has amassed over 104 million streams on Spotify to date.
